Lush Ice Blue Soap Review

Lush Ice Blue Soap

My first ever “signature scent” was the ever-androgynous Dirty from Lush. This was back when I was identifying as transmasculine and didn’t want to be perceived as femme. These days I’m more outwardly femme but I still love spearmint and minty scents. They are super refreshing and I love that they are well-received by most ppl anywhere on the gender spectrum.

When the Lush Kitchen Box August 2023 was all minty scented, I was excited, and as someone who doesn’t currently have access to a bathtub, I was doubly excited for some soap.

The Lush Ice Blue Soap is a discontinued soap that’s been brought back just for the August 2023 kitchen box. You used to be able to buy them in-store as part of their main line available year-round:

This was back in the days when you could request a specific size of soap cut from a large block/circle in store., I think it was around the 2020 pandemic that they stopped offering this option which is unfortunate, it helped give Lush that market and handmade feel they go for. Just furthers the change of Lush becoming a giant corporate conglomerate.

My Lush Ice Blue Soap Review

I thought that I had never used this soap before, but using it, I think I had a slice in the distant past… It evoked memories from being a teenager getting into Lush as it has that classic Lush soapy-ness which I can only describe as a mix of citrus and herbaceousness. For some reason, the quality of the in-store items now doesn’t seem to match what I get in kitchen boxes. The soaps they have now are disappointing as I don’t really care for the scents outside of the citrusy ones. Lush struggles with making sweet scents too sweet, so the more clean and herbal scents are safer options.

It looks cool in the shower, my BF loves using it. It holds up well on its own. It doesn’t have an intense lather, but I kind of prefer that.

I really love the way this soap looks, the color looks great, especially under alternative lighting:

There are some dupes of the scent on Etsy, but I haven’t seen any that quite captures the cool electric blue-ness of this soap!

Pros:

  • Beautiful androgynous minty, herbacious scent.
  • Vegan & Cruelty-Free
  • Ethically Sourced Mint and Menthol
  • Looks cool under purple light/blue light/ alternative color lighting

Cons:

  • Discontinued from the main Lush line, only available as an off-chance kitchen exclusive
  • Lush’s regular line of soaps don’t impress me
  • Too drying for skin prone to dermatitis, and eczema. Made my partner’s dermatitis flare-up

Lush Kitchen Box October 2023 Review: Pirates Theme!

Hi all~ I’m very excited about today’s post! I was not expecting how novel I would find the Lush Kitchen Box October 2023. Everyone always anticipates the Lush kitchen box to be extra special for their two biggest holidays (Halloween and Christmas), so much so that a lot of people prefer to only sign up for the subscription service for that month. This year Lush went for a pirate theme, featuring many earthy, dank, fruity, and spicy scents. It was personally a hit for me as I love earthy scents and when Lush goes more experimental.

Leftovers from last month’s box:

The packaging and turn-around for this month was better than last. They had failed to include one of the items from the September box, so it was delivered with the October box. The October box came in this bigger box which had September’s item on top in some packaging peanuts:

As a consolation, they included the Give Me Body soap which is also part of the Glitterbox collab.

Lush Kitchen Box November 2023 Spoilers: Inventor Box

Hi Everyone~ I am preparing my October posts and trying to get ahead for the Lush Kitchen Box November 2023 box, but had to dig for information on this one since I didn’t save anything as I came across it. Lush decided to do something different with this box. There was no voting this month, instead, they are having an “Inventor Box” where Lush product creators Ro & Gary feature new products they’ve created which Kitchen subscribers can then vote to keep to be released in Lush’s main range. So some of these items are potentially not entirely “kitchen exclusive”.

Items in the Lush Kitchen Box November 2023:

Lush Oat Milk Latte Scrub Bar – Featuring oat milk powder, espresso absolute, and shea butter. It’s both scrubby and moisturizing

Lush Passionfruit Shower Gel – Lush’s first scrubby shower gel featuring passion fruit seeds that give a nice exfoliation.

Lush Tropical Co-Mingle Body Scrub – A tropical fruit version of Lush’s 3-in-1 body scrub, Co-Mingle. Original Co-Mingle has a soothing lavender scent.

Lush Espresso Lip Scrub – Features some of the same espresso absolute that the oat milk latte scrub includes.

Lush Peachy Ro’se Body Lotion– The first time this Lush Fragrance is available in body lotion form.

It’s a very scrubby box which I’m excited about as I’ve been enjoying Lush’s scrubs lately. I am especially excited about the Oat Milk Latte scrub and the tropical co-mingle as I love the idea of using them before shaving, cause not only will they help to scrub away dead skin in preparation for shaving, but also provide some slip to help your razor glide.

A tropical fruity box for November seems out of place, but I can kind of see this having a fall vibe with the espresso. Similar to the last October 2023 Kitchen Box, I feel this box will provide a full bathing experience, with scrubs, a shower gel, and a moisturizer. Everything you need for soft, yummy scented skin!

To get people hyped on the box, they shared this preview of the products explaining some of the ingredients. I love these videos cause they get me in the mood to make my own scrubs!

Lush Cosmetics Blogs and Resources List

Lush Cosmetics Blogs and Resources ListHi everyone! Today I am presenting a Lush Cosmetics Blogs and Resources List. I’m currently in the process of getting a bunch of Lush posts up, but I want to create this post to reference in all of my Lush-related posts. I’ve been a Lushie for awhile, and love keeping up with the Lush community. I also wanted to make my own effort at “archiving” references to some of my favorite Lush blogs!

Are you an online content creator who posts Lush content and would like to be added to this list? Feel free to use the contact form to submit a request to have your link featured. The only requirements are that you are active and post Lush-related content like unboxings and reviews.  Likewise, if you see yourself on this list and wish to be removed, you can use the contact form for that as well. If you become inactive, you will be added to the “inactive” list.

September 2023 Empties

Ngl i’m starting to find my obsession with documenting my trash weird too, don’t worry.. However despite the extra effort it takes to document, I think it’s still an interesting study in analyzing one’s waste. I’m still working on posting my August empties, but strangely that one was like 90% feminine hygiene products. As I imagined, September was more tactical.. I’m analyzing the months now through the commonalities i’m noticing in my empties. This month I did not obsessively keep everything. Gonna keep focusing on beauty products since this is primarily a beauty blog, lmao.

Makeup

  • Glossier Lip Gloss, WRP. Best lip gloss i’ve used.

Supplements

  • Nature’s Bounty D3, WNRP. Random supplement I found that I used up. I think D3 is effective, would just prefer a different brand.
  • Liquid Chlorophyll, WNRP. These are unreliable often, would rather just juice greens to get chlorphyll
  • Garden of Life Doctor Formulated Once Daily Ultra Probiotic, WRP, 7x
  • Milk Thistle Seed Extract, WNRP

Haircare

  • Ouai Rose Body & Hair Oil, WNRP this was absolute dog shite for markup, absolute foolery for gullible sephoraheads
  • Pantene Sulfate Free Conditioner, WNRP. I can get better conditioners for cheaper.
  • Kerastase Night Repair Serum, WNRP they keep giving me samples
  • Redken Extreme Length Conditioner, WNRP

Skincare

  • Evian Spring Water Spray, WRP, 3x
  • Living Libations Clarifying Clay Soap, WNRP (I prefer the charcoal soap)
  • Naturium The Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash, WNRP
  • Scinic Enjoy Super Mild Sun Essence SPF50+ PA++++, WRP, 1

Household

  • Waterdrop tablets – WNRP, wasteful, take up too much space, too much effort, too much waste. Just plain water with lemon is 100000x better
  • Bob’s Red Mill Ground Flaxseed, WRP, need to WRP, apparently freshly ground flax is better.
  • Living Libations Frankincense Fresh Toothpaste, WRP
  • Earth Worm Drain Cleaner, WNRP. Landlords left it so I used it up lol
  • Ikea Candle, WRP if it was on sale
  • Bigelow Constant Comment Black Tea, WNRP
  • Celestial Seasonings Honey Chamomille Tea, WNRP
  • Cotton Swabs, WRP I’m getting them at Costco now in bulk like an adult ig
  • Soy Lecithin – WNRP, getting sunflower now from a different brand

It’ll also be interested in seeing how I hone in on this overtime, my pictures need some work!! I’m also anti-grammar at this point, “proper grammar” is an oppressive device used to dampen creative expression, GOODBYE!!
